Dear Sloth,
Life for us (humans) is slowing down and we are
forced to stay home due to the covid-19, avoiding
contacts and trying to go out as less as possible.
During these weird days, I’m thinking a lot about
‘slowness’. We have the tendency to associate
intelligence with speed, and stupidity, by contrast,
with slow. This is symptomatic of a wider stress in
our culture on getting things done quickly and ‘saving
time’. The same 'time' that now it seems paused.
Now that our movements and metabolisms are slow,
our eyes can see things differently.
I once read that you can spend your entire life on a
tree without going down…and sometimes you keep
hugging the trunk of that tree for weeks after you are
dead. I also read that algae and moths co-habit in
your skin with mutual advantages. There is
something spiritual and magic about your caring for
other living beings...something we should learn too.
I think it is time to discover how to take better care
for our surrounding. Time to reconnect with nature.
Hope to meet you soon :)
